What is your name and how do you shine your light (entrepreneur, student, community leader, strong family, etc.)?
My name is Ebony Magee-Chambliss. I shine my light through being the CEO & Founder of G.A.L.S Growing and Loving Servants Positive Sisterhood. I serve as a liaison between the community and its needs. I strive my best to empower, encourage, inspire and build the everyday woman and child through the word of God.
Why do you believe you are Bright Flavor(Bright flavor being the light of the world, salt of the earth)?
The word tells us in Matthew 5:16 that "Let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in Heaven." Jesus is the truth and the life. He is the light unto my path, therefore I have access to HIS light. The author and the finisher that lives within me is the light of the world and salt of the earth.
How do you pass or have passed the salt in your daily life in your community?
I pass the salt in my daily life and in my community by my actions, my words, my hands and my life. It is one thing to say I love you. Nevertheless, it is another thing to "demonstrate" love. God shows us love daily. We are made in His image and therefore I strive my very best to align my life with HIS word. His word tells us that we should be a fisher of men! So in order to do so, I must live my life as such.
How do you pass or have passed the salt in your daily life in your worldwide?
Wow! I haven't even scratched the surface to impact lives worldwide. Nonetheless, with God all things are possible! My goal is to leave my fingerprint as Jesus did. I will spread the word from highways to byways. My prayer is that wherever I go that He goes before me. I know there are times that God leads us to foggy places. In those places, the sheep hears His voice.
Who or what was most influential in helping you become Bright Flavor and why?
My parents are the most influential in helping me become Bright Flavor. My parents taught me early on about God and what He expects of us. They taught me confidence at a young age after being bullied. My mother is a strong woman of faith. I know we all have hard times, however I never seen my mother defeated. If you back her into a corner, she is coming back with the lion across her shoulders for dinner. My dad shows me how to live as a humble servant. He always told me to pick up trash when I felt myself getting to high. He always taught me to treat the janitor with the same respect you treat the CEO. I also have an amazing husband and kids that inspire and accepts me for me.
What was your turning point in knowing it was ok for you to shine and pass the salt to others while doing so?
My turning point was this year when my grandfather passed. He was found in his bedroom on his knees praying. My life was never the same and it made me reevaluate my own life's purpose. The day Cool Pops died Ebony was born. It ignited my fire and gave me extra wind to keep the good fight of faith! It was then that I was able to shine and pass the salt to others while doing so.
What are some challenges you encounter while letting your light shine?
Some challenges that I encounter at the moment are time and resources. I still work full-time in order to finance this vision. This means a lot of late nights and sacrifices. However, I know God is working it all out for my good! He knows my heart and He knows my desires. He wants to know if I can trust Him with just a little. He provides and shortly I will have that transitional housing. I will be working there full-time. Matter of fact, I report to this place in my heart everyday!
How do you plan to continue passing the salt and lighting the world in the future?
I will continue to pass the salt and lighting the world in the future by staying connected to God's Word. If He said it, He will make it good! He is not like man where He should lie. He is committed to this vision because He gave it to me. As long as there is breath in my body, I will forever pass the salt along. If I can just help someone along the way, then I know my living isn't in vain!
